All right. So let's answer the question. Are e-bike batteries removable, or can you remove an e-bike battery? Now, I'm going to speak specifically to what I know generally about the bike industry and about sixthreezero electric bikes. And the answer is yes. Most e-bikes, the battery can be removed and also replaced. In most instances, electric bikes' batteries have a key to remove or not remove the battery. The reason for the key is just so when you're riding, it locks it in and it won't fall out. In particular, on sixthreezero bikes, because it's on the rear rack, if you go up a hill and there wasn't a locking mechanism, that battery could fall right out, slip right out of the rack.

Now the benefit to electric bike batteries being able to be removed is you can take them with you, charge them in your office while your bike stays locked up. Or if in your home, you don't have a charger where you store your bikes in your garage, you can bring the battery in the house and charge it. So if you're looking at an electric bicycle that has a battery that's not removable, you just have to ask yourself, "Can I charge it in the garage? Or am I going to ride somewhere where I might drain the entire battery on the ride? And then if I have to leave it outside, I'm not going to be able to charge it." Let's say if you're parking it outside of a store or a grocery store or your office. So if it's removable, you can bring it inside with you, charge it a couple of hours if you're going to be at the office, and then go home. So for that reason, most electric bike batteries are removable.

Now, there may be somewhere the batteries are integrated into the frame. Now, that's another situation where when they are integrated in the frame, I've seen it that they're actually inside the tube and they're not removable, or they are removable, but they may not be very easily removable. So that's another way to put it. So some batteries are inside the frame. They're removable, but you'd have to take out the fork, or in some situations, take out a bracket, remove some bolts. So there are actually varying levels to the difficulty to remove an electric bike battery. And it really depends on the positioning.

That was one reason why at sixthreezero, we put the battery in the rear rack because it can slide in and out very easily removable, which makes charging it, taking it with you, very, very easy. Now, if it's inside the top tube and it clicks on and off, those are easy. I've seen some behind the seat tube. Those should be fairly easy, although it may be challenging to get it under the seat. In some instances, you actually may have to pull the seat out to drop the battery back in. And then in other instances, like I said, they're actually inside the tube, and getting them outside the frame can be even more challenging.

So it's something for you to think about with your electric bike when buying an electric bike. Just think about how you're going to use it, where you're going to go with it. Are you going to charge it in an office? If you are, can you bring the whole bike upstairs into the office to charge it? If not, is it something where you just want the battery to be easily removable so you can bring it with you? And I think this is important to think about because just because an e-bike might look nice with a battery nicely tucked away and hidden, you have to think about the usability of that and how important is it to you to easily remove that battery and take it with you places.

So one little minor detail, but it could affect how happy you are with the e-bike. If for an example, you go on a bike ride to your office, it's 20 miles, and you get there and the battery's dead, and all of a sudden you realize, "Wow, it's challenging to get this battery out of the frame. And I can't even bring it upstairs with me to charge it. Now I have to ride home like a normal bike." Which riding home on a normal bike is not a bad thing. But if you had planned on being able to charge to have that electricity, that's going to be a little bit of a bummer if you run into that situation. So definitely consider that. How easily do you want your battery to be removable, to be removed? And is that important to you when choosing an e-bike?
