Hi, guys. It's Alanna here with sixthreezero, and today is World Health Day so you know we are going to talk about the health benefits of riding a bike. As a kid, riding a bike was something you just did for fun. You didn't even consider it exercise, or the word exercise might not have even been in your vocabulary. But now as adults, sometimes just the label exercise can feel really daunting. But the great thing is that biking doesn't have to be that way. Going for a leisurely ride and framing your bike ride as something that you do to relax or unplug is a great way to build a biking habit while still reaping all of the health benefits that come with it. And speaking of health benefits, there are so many to talk about, and they're both physical and mental.
As far as physical benefits go, biking can improve your joint mobility, increase your bone and muscle strength, and improve your posture and coordination. So it's a great option for anyone of any age, young or old, and whether you are already really athletic or you're just embarking on your fitness journey, biking is so low impact that it's a great option to help you reach your fitness goals. So if you're looking for a reason to grab your bike and go out for a ride right now, here are a few. First, biking engages all muscle groups so it's really a full-body exercise. That being said, it's really low impact. So your risk of injury is really low. So you still get a full-body workout with a low risk of injury, and especially if you're concerned with your knees, biking is a great option.
Third, cycling improves your cardiovascular health, so that means your stamina will be improved. That makes it a great option. If you are prepping to go on vacation or anything like that where you want to make sure that you have a lot of stamina to keep going, biking beforehand will definitely help you with that. Fourth is, if you incorporate biking into your daily routine like commuting or running errands, it can save you time. And another reason is it gets you outside. And now that spring is here, it's sunny, you definitely want to get that vitamin D and most of us have spent more time than ever before indoors this past year so we need it. So biking is a great option for that. And lastly, biking has a low barrier of entry. It's really easy to learn. And once you do, it's like riding a bicycle, you don't really forget it. It doesn't take weeks of training or anything like that. It's easy to learn, easy to maintain, and fun.
So I hope I've encouraged you to get out there on your bike. And if a bike is not for you, of course, a trike is also a good option. You'll still reap all of those health benefits without having to worry about balance. So grab your bike or trike, get out there.
